Admission to the University of Freiburg 

U.G. Admission 

  • Interested candidates must apply for an undergraduate degree at the University through the application portal of the University. 
  • The admissions take place generally during the summer and winter seasons. 
  • Interested candidates are required to submit their academic records and transcripts of their 12 years of formal education. 
  • Interested candidates must also submit their student visas, and the acceptance rate of international students at the University is 64%. 
  • Interested students are also required to submit their English and German Language Proficiency Test Results. They must upload these results during the application process on the University Portal. 
  • Based upon the admission decision, the candidates need to accept the letter of acceptance from the University and enroll in their desired programs. 

P.G. Admission 

  • Applications are invited during the summer and the winter seasons, and interested candidates need to apply using the University portal. 
  • To apply for a master's degree at the University, a student must have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree course. The students need to upload the transcripts of their educational qualifications during the application process. 
  • Interested candidates are also required to upload their German and English Language Proficiency Tests. 
  • The students are also required to submit a letter of motivation, their CV, and a statement of purpose. 

Ph.D. Admissions  

  • To pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Freiburg, the students must first acquire supervision approval. This confirmation of supervision must be received from someone authorized for doctoral supervision. 
  • After acquiring the supervision confirmation, students are required to conclude their dissertation agreement with the supervisor. 
  • The students would then be required to register themselves as prospective doctoral candidates. 
  • After receiving the admission decision from the University, the students can enroll at the Service Center Stadium. 

Eligibility Criteria

UG Degree 

  • Candidates are required to score a 7.0 on their IELTS or a 95 on their TOEFL IBT tests. 
  • The candidates must also score a 2 or 3 on the DSH test to prove their German Language Proficiency. 

PG Degree 

  • Candidates must acquire a GPA of 2.5 out of 4 or an aggregate of 77% in their Bachelor's degree. 
  • To prove their English Language Proficiency, candidates must also score either a 7.0 on their IELTS, a 76 in PTE, or 95 in TOEFL IBT. 
  • Candidates also need to acquire a 2 or 3 in the DSH test to prove their German language proficiency.
