• The university is the first university in British Columbia to have an asteroid named after it. It goes by the name "150145 UVic" and was discovered in 1996 by David Balam. However, the asteroid was not officially named after the university until 2007. 

• The University of Victoria, commonly known as UVic, has a well-planned bus route system. The system has around 19 bus routes that arrive at UVic from 11 different places. This ensures that students who live nearby face no issue commuting daily. 

• The university greatly values sustainability, offering exceptional commitment to sustainability-centered programs and initiatives. The campus is home to LEED-certified buildings, solar panels, and green roofs as an effort to reduce the university's carbon footprint.
