Based in Nottingham, England, The University of Nottingham is a public research university established in 1881. In the year 1948, the university was given a royal charter. The university is a part of the reputed Russel Group association known for its significant contributions in the field of research.

Along with University Park, which happens to be the university's primary campus, the Jubilee Campus and Queen's Medical Centre, which serves as the university's teaching hospital, are based in Nottingham. Many smaller university campuses can be found in counties like Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. While some of the university's major campuses are in the UK, it does have a few prominent campuses in countries like China, Semenyih, Ningbo, and Malaysia.

  • The university is branched into as many as five constituent faculties comprising 50 schools, institutes, departments, and research centers. Across its multiple campuses, the university has more than 46,000 students and over 7,000 staff members. 

  • The University of Nottingham has always received significant support from several private and government institutions. In the academic year 2021 – 22, the university generated £792.2 million in its income. From this, £131.4 million came through various contracts and research grants.  

  • Students graduating from the University of Nottingham have made a name for themselves in different fields. Along with a Nobel Prize, the alumni of the University of Nottingham have a Gabor Medal and a Fields Medal to their credit. 

  • In its several decades, the University of Nottingham has undergone several stages of evolution. The university was located in a central portion of Nottingham for several years. In the 1920s, however, the university was designated a large campus on the outskirts of the city. This newly set up campus was called University Park.

  • Once the institution was given a royal charter in the year 1943, it started being recognized as a university. After it received university status, it started giving out degrees to its students. 1948, the University College Nottingham was formally renamed the University of Nottingham. 

  • Over the years, the university has had several successful mergers, which helped solidify its positioning as one of the best universities in England. While the Midlands Agricultural and Dairy College became a part of the University of Nottingham in the 1940s, the university was the first to set up a new medical school in the UK in the 1970s.

  • In the late '90s, the University of Nottingham started its expansion process steadily. In 1999, the Jubilee Campus was set up on a site that once served as the location for the main office of the Raleigh Bicycle Company. While the university's campuses in China and Malaysia opened in 1999 and 2004, the King's Meadow Campus was established near University Park in 2005.

University of Nottingham Admissions

Undergraduate Program 

  • If a student plans to apply for an undergraduate program offered by the University of Nottingham, they must pay an application fee of 20 GBP or 1,970 INR. If they apply for UG multiple courses, they must pay 25 GBP or 2,460 INR as the application fee. 

  • They must have completed standard XII with a minimum percentage of 60%. They must send a personal statement and resume and submit their university transcript and degree certificate. 

Postgraduate Program

  • The University of Nottingham offers a variety of undergraduate courses for students to choose from. The admission requirement for one particular course could vastly differ from the criteria one must adhere to while applying for another course. 

  • To apply for any of the postgraduate courses offered by the University of Nottingham, the candidate must visit the university's official online portal. The application fee charged by the university for any given course is 50 GBP or 4,920 INR. 

  • To apply for a postgraduate course, a student must have a bachelor's degree and pass their bachelor's program with a minimum aggregate percentage of 55%. Apart from their official academic transcripts, the candidate must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. 

  • Being a UK-based university, the University of Nottingham requires applicants to submit two letters of recommendation. Along with a personal statement, the applicant is also expected to submit a financial statement confirming that they are in a financial position to live and study in the UK for a few years. The applicant also needs to have a valid passport.

  • Since the courses offered by the University of Nottingham are taught in English, the applicant has to appear for an English proficiency test and score well in it. If they appear for the IELTS test, they are expected to score at least 6. A TOEFL iBT applicant needs to score a minimum of 79. If somebody appears for a PTE test, they must score at least 65.

MBA Program

  • Many international students apply for a full-time MBA course offered by the University of Nottingham. While many universities offer a 24-month or 2-year long MBA course, the MBA program offered by the University of Nottingham is just 12 months long. 

  • To apply for the 12-month-long MBA course offered by the University of Nottingham, a candidate must pay an application fee of 28,700 GBP or 28.25 lakhs INR. The applicant must have an undergraduate degree and a minimum GPA of 3.0. In the IELTS test, they need to score at least 7.0. If they appear for a PTE test, they must score at least 68.

  • The average GMAT score a student needs to have to study at the University of Nottingham is 640. They need to submit an elaborate SOP along with two letters of recommendation. The university also requires applicants to have worked professionally in a management job for at least 3 years.

  • The University of Nottingham has various housing facilities where more than 4,000 students live. While some residences are within the campus premises, some are just 5-10 minutes away from the university. Apart from standard rooms, students get to choose from en-suite studios and rooms comprising private or shared kitchens and bathrooms.
