University of Agder - Highlights 

The University of Agder (Universitetet i Agder in Norwegian) is among the newest universities in Norway, but its roots date back more than 190 years. The university has six faculties and one teacher unit under the University board. The educational institute offers students high-quality course studies with an international outlook. The institute became a university in 1994 by merging six colleges and granting it a university status in 2007. However, the academic activities have been on since 1839.

University of Agder - Intakes

The University of Agder offers two primary intakes: Autumn (August) and Spring (January). The Autumn intake is the most significant, with a wider range of programs and courses available, particularly for international students.

University of Agder - Accommodation 

The student accommodation by The Student Association of Agder SiA is available at Kristiansand and Grimstad, the university's two campuses. International students outside the EU are sure to get accommodation in a single or shared room for one semester at the university. Whereas students who are from EU and EEA can opt for housing. Students will get a letter of acceptance and reservation code after they apply for the accommodation. The accommodation options are:

  • The rooms have basic furniture set up, and students must bring utensils and purchase them. 

  • SiA doesn't guarantee to offer a student their first choice of accommodation and has the right to assign a different apartment from the one they apply for  

  • Students usually sign a contract of accommodation for one or two semesters. If a student wishes to terminate their contract, they have to give one month's notice 

University of Agder - Costs

Tuition fees apply to international students from outside the EU or Switzerland. Students whose study program sessions start before the Autumn semester 2023 do not have to pay tuition fees.
